Services and Conditions of Use

All items shown are inclusive of VAT.
All sizes indicated in centimetres and inches are approximate.
All weights are approximate.
Colours shown may not be accurate matches.

Delivery charges:
Our standard delivery charge is based on the final cost of your goods:
£0 to £6.49 = £2.25p delivery charge
£6.50p to £12.99p = £2.95p delivery charge
£13.00p to £40 = £4.25p delivery charge
Orders over £40 are delivered free of charge to mainland UK

Free delivery does NOT include Glass Aquariums or Glass Vivariums, these items are delivered on our own transport and are subject to a delivery fuel charge of 20p per mile from our post code M32 9TR (not applicable to Red Sea Max 250).

Free delivery is not applicable on any item to remote locations (see below for list).

Saturdays deliveries can be arranged. The cost of this is £12.00p by City Link which is a guaranteed saturday delivery. We do not offer the "over £40 - free delivery service" with saturday deliveries.

Remote areas:
Certain areas of the UK are subject to an additional charge which is dependent on the weight of the consignment. Consignments with a weight higher than 1.5kg will be subject to this charge.
Remote areas include: Highlands and islands of Scotland, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. We will contact you with the delivery charge by email once you have placed your order. You may either accept the delivery charge and receive your goods, or cancel your order if you are not satisfied with the extra charge.

Delivery Services:
1st Class Post:
Royal Mail endevour to deliver all 1st class items the next working day. This though is not a guaranteed service but we have foundthat they deliver around 95% next day with the remaining 5% usually taking from 2 - 4 days to arrive
City Link: City Link give a guaranteed 24 hour next day delivery service. "Next Day" is the type of delivery and means your order will be delivered the day after we despatch it (it does not mean that if you place your order on saturday afternoon, you will receive it on sunday...)
Our Van Transport: Glass aquariums and glass vivariums will be delivered on our own transport. We reserve the right to decline delivery to certain areas due to cost/time implcations.
When will your item be despatched:
Usually same/next working day depending on the time you place your order. We carry 98% of the items on our web site in stock. If we are out of stock of an item we will inform you by email.
Some items are sent directly from the manufacturer. We have no control over the shipping of these items but we have agreements with these manufacturers that items will be despatched same/next day.

Guarantee:
All items carry the manufacturers guarantee except incandescent light bulbs. We offer no wear and tear or usage guarantee on these types of light bulbs. Incandescent bulbs are covered though for damage in transit.

Refunds and returns:
Under the EU distance selling act you have a 7 day cooling off period after delivery.
We will glady exchange goods which are faulty during the warranty period.
Refunds will be carried out within 30 days of receiving the items back with ourselves.

If you encounter a problem with your product please notify us as soon as possible either by telephone, email or letter.
If we are unable to solve the problem by telephone we will require you to send the product back to us. We require you to describe exactly what the problem is. We will discuss with you whether you require a replacement item or a refund and act upon the information we receive regarding the product.

If the product requires repair or replacement, we will need to inspect the product. If the item is deemed to be faulty it will be repaired or replaced. In the case of the item not being faulty it will be returned to you at your cost.
When we receive returned goods we will inspect them for missing or damaged parts. Under UK trading laws we reserve the right to make a deduction from any refund due to you, for the whole value of the missing, damaged or consumable item.
Replacing a faulty item: The replacement item will NOT be despatched until the original item has arrived back with ourselves. If the replacement item is required urgently we will take payment for the replacement (second) item and despatch this immediately. Once the original item has arrived back with ourselves we will refund the second payment in full.

How much would it cost to return an item?
The UK law states: Under the EU Distance Selling Directive which came into force in October 2000 you are responsible for any costs incurred returning products to us. Under the same act, we are responsible for the cost of returning repaired or replacement goods to you.

We feel this is fair as we sell our goods at prices well below RRP and in order to achieve these low prices we can not also offer a refund for the cost of a return delivery service.

Non delivery:
If we send an item out and it cannot be delivered and is returned by the post office or carrier, and this is not the fault of the post office, carrier or ourselves, we will not send the item again until the postage cost is paid for the second delivery.
Also, if the item cannot be delivered and the fault is not of the post office, carrier or ourselves and a refund is requested, we will refund the price of the item but will charge for the outward postage cost in full and any cost incured in returning the item to ourselves in full (the term "in full" is calculated as being the full carriage cost charged to ourselves by the carrier company). If these goods are still required, we will not despatch them until the full carriage costs have been paid from the original failed delivery.

Glass Aquariums and Cabinets/Stands:
We do not send out glass tanks using a carrier as we are unable to have insurance cover for damage in transit. These items are delivered using our own van transport. Please refer to delivery charges for this service.
Cabinets can be sent out using carrier transport. If a cabinet arrives damaged in most cases we can send out a replacement panel rather than replace the whole unit.

Special Offers, Price Matching and Promotions:
Special offers are only applicable at the time of purchase. Special offers where they are offered to beat a competitors price is only applicable on a like for like basis including delivery charges.
Proof of the advertised price must be given. Word of mouth or a hand written quotation is not sufficient. Qualification for a price match is at our discretion where the product priced elsewhere is not wrongly priced or priced to cause disruption to the market, or displayed by a web site that is no longer trading or the web site or shop is about to close down.

Your account:
If you use this site, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password.

Product description and images:
Urmston aquatics attempt to be as accurate as possible with our descriptions and images shown on our web site. If a product offered by ourselves is not as described please inform us and we will change the description or remove the goods from sale.
